The Science of Reading is 40+ years of multidisciplinary research demonstrating best practices for language instruction.

The National Reading Panel (NRP) identifies five elements that are key to reading success:

  • Comprehension

  • Fluency

  • Vocabulary

  • Phonics

  • Phonemics Awareness

Structured Literacy (SL) is an instructional approach that is highly explicit and systematic and includes all areas of language development.
